Role is to Protect Maintain Preserve the honor of its heritage and Remembrance.

It outlines best-practice advice on how to appropriately safeguard a war memorial’s significance and maintain its fabric and setting. It is aimed at local communities and tradespeople. The guide is intended to show how local communities can honour their servicemen and servicewomen with due ceremony, while also protecting war memorials from risk and damage, so they can be conserved for future generations of Australians.
The Care and Maintenance is carried out by volunteers of RSL who are registered volunteers of Shoalhaven City Council Land Care, in conjunction with Council support and other agencies .
Places of Pride Memorials Register
Places of Pride, the National Register of War Memorials, is an Australian War Memorial initiative to record the location and photo of every publicly accessible war memorial in Australia.
Memorials conceived and erected across Australia after the First World War, were pivotal in allowing communities and families to grieve and pay their respects. They provided a way for towns to express their loss through remembrance and became a focal point for civic pride in the courage, loyalty and the sacrifice of their local servicemen and women. This sentiment continues to this day with memorials across Australia bearing testament to conflicts and peacekeeping operations from the Boer War to Afghanistan.
